Got off the climbers gondola this morning and there she was - Kate Humble, up filming a piece about the Sun and the tilt of the earth away from its warmth in the winter months. Kate Humble - she is to the natural world what Carol Vorderman is to maths. She agreed to a photo with me, but not to a date and she wouldn't give me her number. She was more gorgeous in the flesh than on the telly, but this may have been because she wasn't accompanied by that awful eco dwarf Oddie.

After this great start to the day, went climbing with Biggles. Enjoyed Maneater V.5, just to the right of White Shark. All covered in excellent neve and patches of good water ice. The crux section is hard mixed at present, but with enough ice on the left wall (just) |
